Wintringham lies in a rich archaeological landscape, where people have lived and farmed for thousands of years.

Archaeologists from Oxford Archaeology East (based in Bar Hill near Cambridge) have been investigating this area for over a decade, including Love’s Farm to the north. Our work is helping to build a detailed picture of how people first lived in the claylands of western Cambridgeshire.

In 2022-23, we are investigating a settlement occupied from the middle Iron Age to the Roman period. We will share regular updates on our progress and what we've found on this blog in the coming months.
